Indonesia’s, Singapore’s Next Leaders Meet in Bogor
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had a conversation at the back veranda of Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java province, Monday (04/29).
During the moment, President Jokowi was accompanied by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and PM Lee was accompanied by Vice PM Lawrence Wong.
At the bilateral meeting, President Jokowi mentioned that Indonesia and Singapore will have new leaders in 2024. President expressed belief that the cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore will be stronger under the new leaderships.
“In this year, Indonesia and Singapore will have new leaders. I believe that under the new leaderships, we will continue to strengthen our mutual-benefit cooperation,” President Jokowi said.
President Jokowi also conveyed his appreciation to PM Lee and his administration. According to the President, the cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore has been running well under PM Lee’s leadership.
“I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to PM Lee and his administration for fostering our cooperation so far,” President Jokowi said.
For the record, PM Lee Hsien Loong is to conclude his term of office on May 15, 2024, and Lawrence Wong will be his successor. Meanwhile, President Jokowi will also conclude his term of office as the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the next October. The General Elections Commission (KPU) has stated that Prabowo Subianto is the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period.
