Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the International Doctoral Program Campus Building of Gunadarma University at North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, June 4, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Good afternoon,
May peace be upon us all.

Honorable Ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet, Head and Deputy Head of the Capital Authority, [Acting] Governor of East Kalimantan Province, Regent of Penajam Paser Utara,

Honorable Director of the Doctoral Program of Gunadarma University Professor Dr. Busono Soerowirdjo,

Distinguished guests and students in attendance,

I have just led the groundbreaking ceremony of Al-Azhar Summarecon for elementary, middle, and high schools in our new capital of Nusantara. This is important since the future residents of Nusantara will undoubtedly need comprehensive education, including elementary, middle, high schools, and universities. I deeply appreciate Gunadarma University for being the first university to be built in Nusantara. This university will offer international doctoral programs in collaboration with universities in France, Slovakia, Sweden, and others.

As such, human resources we will have in the future will be of high quality. This is crucial as the competition for human resources among countries is extremely intense nowadays. I am confident that the establishment of Gunadarma University in Nusantara will improve, enhance, and develop Indonesian human resources, especially the residents of East Kalimantan and the broader Kalimantan region.

That concludes my remarks on this auspicious occasion. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby officially commence the groundbreaking of the International Doctoral Program Campus Building of Gunadarma University.
