Target 10 Billion Dollar, Indonesia – Vietnam Agree to Increase Trade and Investment
On the second day of the 27th ASEAN summit and other summits, which is also the last day, President Joko Widodo started the activities with a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister (PM) Vietnam, Nguyen Tan Dung, at the Meeting of Bilateral KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Sunday (22/11).
Communication team of President, Ari Dwipayana, in a press release said that during the meeting, President Jokowi and Prime Minister Nguyen agreed to boost bilateral relations, particularly in trade and investment. Both Heads of State agreed to realize trade target of 10 billion US dollars by 2018. At present, the bilateral trade value of nearly $ 6 billion.
To increase the value of trade between the two countries, President Jokowi offers the strategic product of Indonesia to Vietnam. “Indonesia’s investment in Vietnam is also growing quite rapidly almost reached 500 million US dollars, we hope to get the attention of the Government of Vietnam,” President Jokowi said.
PM Nguyen welcomed the desire of President Jokowi. “I will also assign the Minister of Defense to follow up Indonesia’s investment in Vietnam,” Prime Minister Nguyen said.
EEZ Negotiations Completed December 2015
Both Heads of State also agreed to hasten the completion of Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) negotiations between the two countries. “I hope the EEZ negotiated completion could be implemented in December 2015,” President Jokowi said.
At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Jokowi invited the President Jokowi to visit Vietnam. “Thank you for the invitation, I will soon plan to visit Vietnam”, President Jokowi said. (ES)
