President Jokowi: Economic Growth Must Also Pay Attention to the Environment
President Joko Jokowi Widodo reminded all sides that in making efforts to boost economic growth, the environment must not be ignored.
The President delivered the statement on Tuesday (1/12) before returning to Indonesia after attending the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Conference of Parties (COP) 21 in Paris, France.
Do not let high economic growth make us ignore the environment, President Jokowi said to the reporters before heading to Le Bourget Airport in Paris, France, on Tuesday 1 December 2015.
For the record, President Jokowi visited Paris, France to attend the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Conference of Parties (COP) 21 Leaders Event which took place on Monday, 30 November 2015. During the event, President Jokowi held bilateral meetings with 13 countries leaders.
The bilateral meetings could support us in the management of the environment, renewable energy, peat land restoration, reforestation, and conservation in protected forests, President Jokowi said.
President Joko Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Widodo returned to Indonesia on Indonesia’s first presidential aircraft, on Tuesday 1 December 2015 on 10.55 local time.
Accompanying the President during the visit were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli, Minister of National Development Planning Sofyan Djalil and Presidential Chief of Staffs Teten Masduki.
According to the plan, President Jokowi and his entourage is also scheduled to transit in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
President Jokowi is scheduled to arrive at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jakarta, on Wednesday (2/12) on 11.00 Western Indonesian Time.
