Unofficial English Translation
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Assalamualaikum warrahmatullahi wabarakaatuh,
This afternoon, we are going to discuss the development of a new airport in Yogyakarta.
We all know that the existing Adi Sucipto Airport serves 3.5 million passengers per year; in fact, its capacity is only 1.5 million passengers per year.
Increasing the capacity of the airport will bring impacts and added values to regional economies, especially economy in Yogyakarta province.
I was also told that the plan to build an airport in Kulon Progo has been made for a long time and many people are waiting for it, but in reality, we know that the construction is not underway yet.
Therefore, I would like to know how much the progress has been regarding the plan to build the airport, including barriers faced on the ground.
The Government wants to act fast to address issues that we are facing, especially in the development of infrastructures and we no longer want to delay it because in terms of infrastructures, we are far left behind from other countries.
I also want that the development of this new airport is well planned and it is not only for the next 5 to 10 years but if possible for the next 30 to 50 years.
I also want the airport is integrated with other modes of transportation, such as buses or trains.
Thats what I can say for my introductory remarks.
Now I would like to invite Mr. Governor to have the floor first, before Transportation Minister. The floor is yours.(Humas Setkab)(EP/YM/Naster)
