President Joko Widodo Offers Passenger Trains Manufactured by PT INKA to Sri Lanka
The visit of the Prime Minister of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickramasinghe and his spouse Mrs. Maithree Wickramasinghe to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, was used by President Joko Widodo to offer superior products made by Indonesian workers, i.e. passenger trains manufactured by PT INKA, Madiun.
Passenger trains from PT INKA have been exported to Bangladesh. It still continues. Indonesia will join again an auction in Sri Lanka. I also asked Prime Minister Ranil to pay attention to Indonesias passenger trains. I hope Indonesia will win the auction so that the trains can be exported to Sri Lanka. After Bangladesh, hopefully it will be to Sri Lanka. It seems that Indonesia gets the green light, the President told the journalists after ushering PM Ranil leaving the Palace.
How much is it worth? You can ask Minister of Industry or Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, the President said.
According to the President, PM Ranil promised that he will analyze and think about it.
President Joko Widodo stated that at the moment, Indonesia starts to study the potential of several countries whose markets have never been penetrated by Indonesia. This is what we start to do so that Indonesia will not depend only on traditional markets, he said.
The President explained that the first penetration is to countries whose population is around 60 to 100 million. However, Indonesia will also pay attention to the countries whose population is around 20 to 30 million. He also mentioned that so far Indonesia never pays attention to this issue; but now, Indonesia will try to open more markets for Indonesian products so that they can enter those countries.
I also invited Prime Minister Ranil to come to a Trade Expo in October because the trend of export of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is good, the President said. (UN/JAY/ES)(MMB/YM/Naster)
