Indonesian veteran badminton pair Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan won the 2019 All England title in men’s doubles in Birmingham, England, Sunday (10/3). This victory has caught direct attention from President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“Although they lagged in the first game, their enthusiasm and optimism have made the pair stole the spotlight for the next two games. All Indonesian people and I congratulate you,” President Jokowi wrote on his Facebook fanpage and Twitter account @jokowi.

The pair Hendra / Ahsan became the only Indonesian representative reaching the final and successfully won the prestigious title after defeating Malaysian pair Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik with rubber sets, 11-21, 21-14 -21-12.

This victory is their second All England title after winning the same competition five years ago. In 2014, the pair beat Japanese doubles Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa with a score of 21-19 and 21-19. (ES)
