The commemoration ceremony of the 81st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia was enlivened with 17 paratroopers from the Indonesian Army’s Special Forces Command (Kopassus) who performed a victory jump and artistic maneuvers.

The mid-air maneuvers range from tiered jumps to the display of a massive Red and White flag, a banner with the 81st-anniversary logo, and a giant flag featuring President Prabowo Subianto. Paratroopers Coordinator, Brigadier General Gede Putra Yasa said that the number of paratroopers represents the date of Indonesia’s proclamation of independence.

Following paratroopers’ performance, the show was carried out by aerial demonstration from the Indonesian Air Force personnel, showcasing its Primary Weaponry Defense System (Alutsista). The demo began with a special joint formation from eight helicopters of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) that carried a giant Red and White flag. Afterwards, Hawk, T-50, and F-16 fighter jets formed an 81 formation and performed a flight pass.

“From the flight deck of Rafale fighter jet, we, the young eagles of the Air Force, wish a Happy 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. A sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia. Merdeka (Independence)!” a pilot said.

The Primary Weaponry Defense System as part of aerial show displayed readiness and strength of Indonesia’s air defense, while the aerial display enriched the series of ceremonies commemorating the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/AW)
