All Parcels of Lands in South Jakarta to be Certified This Year: President Jokowi
In order to address disputes on land ownership, the Government will carry on land certification program given certificate constitutes a legal proof of property ownership, according to President Joko Jokowi Widodo.
If some people say that distributing certificates to the people brings no benefits, let them be. However, the program must be carried on, President Jokowi said at the distribution of land certificates to the people at Pasar Minggu Youth Center, South Jakarta, on Friday (22/2).
The President mentioned that he always received complaints from the people during his working visits to a region, village, and hamlet, regarding land dispute and agrarian matters. It happens everywhere, in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Bali, Maluku, Papua, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, and so on, he added.
According to the President, out of 126 million parcels of land in Indonesia, only 46 million of which had been certified as of 2015. The remaining 80 million certificates are yet to be issued. Therefore, a lot of disputes emerged from that situation since the people have not obtained legal proof of their land yet.
President Jokowi had set a target for Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning (ATR)/ National Land Agency (BPN) to issue 5 million certificates in 2017, and 7 million certificates in 2018.
Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah, the target was achieved, President Jokowi stated.
The President reminded Minister of ATR/ Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil, and the Head of BPN Jakarta Head Office to certify the remaining 36,000 parcels of land in South Jakarta, so that all parcels of land in that area will be certified this year.
On that occasion, President Jokowi told certificate holders that they can use land certificates as a collateral for bank loan but they must think wisely beforehand.
If you use it to take bank loan, please calculate it first whether you can pay the installment every month or not, the President said.
The Head of State also reminded the people that once they get the loan, do not use it to buy a car. Use it to have capital to start a business and investment. After earning income from that investment, you may use it to buy vehicle.
Also attending the event were among others Minister of ATR/ Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. (FID/RAH/ES)
