Forming a new cabinet is the President’s prerogative, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“The cabinet is the prerogative of the President. The cabinet ministers are the assistants (of the President),” President Jokowi told the reporters after attending the 58th Scout Movement Day Commemoration Ceremony, at the Cibubur Campground, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/8).

Regarding the time for new Cabinet announcement, the President said that the sooner the announcement, the better it would be for the people and the market. He added that about 55% of the upcoming cabinet will be professionals while about 45% will be from political parties.

President Jokowi went on to say that the new cabinet members will consist of various age ranges and that there is a possibility for changes in cabinet nomenclature. (HIM/FID/ES)
