Arriving in Papua, President Jokowi Welcomed by Sentani Traditional Dance Performance
After a five-hour flight from the Capital City Jakarta, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his limited entourage arrived at Sentani airport in Jayapura regency, Papua Province on Friday (01/10) at 04.20 pm Eastern Indonesia Time.
Upon his arrival, the President was seen wearing a noken (Traditional Papuan bag) and was also greeted by Sentani traditional welcoming dance which was accompanied by music from Tifa drums (Papua’s native traditional drum).
Furthermore, President Jokowi went straight to the hotel to stay and were slated to continue his working visit on the following day.
For the record, a number of high ranking officials were present at Sentani airport to welcome the Head of State’s arrival, including the Indonesian National Defense Forces’ (TNI) commander of Joint Regional Defense Command III Lieutenant General Jeffry Apoly Rahawarin, the XVII/Cenderawasih Regional Military Commander Major General Ignatius Yogo Triyono, Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, and Commander of the Air Force Operations Command III Air Vice Marshal Samsul Rizal.
Meanwhile, Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe welcomed the President upon his arrival at the hotel. (PRESIDENTIAL SECRETARIAT) (AP/LW)
