President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (08/10) invited artists to experience the Greater Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) on a trip from Jati Mulya Station, Bekasi, West Java province to Dukuh Atas Station, Jakarta. On this occasion, they shared their impressions about trying the LRT for the first time.

The Indonesian actress Prisia Nasution was pleased to have the opportunity to try the LRT. She expressed belief that the utilization of the LRT can facilitate the public because it is also integrated with the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Dukuh Atas, Jakarta.

“I’m so glad that finally there is an alternative transportation, and while it is now being tested, all of our friends and I tried it for the first time. It looks like this will be great because from Bekasi, Jati Mulya, West Bekasi, there are already many stations all the way to Dukuh Atas, and finally we can connect to the other (mode such as) the MRT,” she said.

Prisia also extended an invitation to the public to use public transportation such as the LRT. Prisia said that the availability of LRT transportation is an effort to reduce the level of air pollution in Jakarta.

“Hopefully, if all of us together want to ride public transportation, we can reduce pollution in Jakarta,” Prisia said.

The veteran singer Yuni Shara felt a sense of pride when she boarded the LRT and went all the way to the front of the carriage.

“I am proud to have also seen that at the front, there is no machinist so it runs on its own, all by control, it’s really cool that our country is getting more and more advanced in many ways,” Yuni said.

Likewise, the comedian Lies Hartono or better known as Cak Lontong expressed hope that the LRT can provide many benefits to the community. He also invited the entire community to maintain and care for this mode of transportation so that it remains comfortable to use.

“LRT is now available, everything is ready, we make the most of it and the most important thing is we should take care of it together for our benefit,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
