Asian Games : Rowing Delivers 9th Gold For Indonesia
Indonesian rowing team made a remarkable achievements at the 2018 Asian Games.
The team clinched 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the rowing competition held at Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, South Sumatera Province, Friday (24/8).
The gold was contributed by Mens Lightweight Eight category and it is the 9th gold for the host country. The team recorded a time of 6:08:88, or four seconds ahead from Uzbekistan, which ranked second with a time of 6:12: 46, and Hong Kong secured the third position with a time of 6:14:46 respectively.
The silver medal was bagged in the Mens Quadruple Scull Memo, Kakan Kusmana, Edwin Ginanjar Rudiana and Supianto. Competing in the 2-kilometer dash, the mens lightweight four team touched the finish line in 6.31.00, just 3 seconds behind the gold winner, India, while bronze was won by Thailand.
Bronze medal was clinched by Indonesian womens pair which clocked 7:19:02. Chinas pair grabbed the gold medal with a time of 7:05.50 and Vietnams settled for silver with a time of 7.14.52.
With the additional medals, Indonesia has so far collected a total of 27 medals, with 9 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze. (*/ICE) (STU/EP/Naster)
