Attending IPEF Meeting, President Jokowi Affirms Indonesia’s Openness to Cooperation
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (11/16) attended state leaders meeting in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) held in Moscone Center, San Francisco, the United States of America. When delivering his remarks, President Jokowi affirmed Indonesia’s openness to tie cooperation with every country based on a mutual benefit principle.
President Jokowi further said that the principle has also been the foundation of Indonesia to participate in IPEF meeting. “Understanding each other’s national demands, especially the importance of developing countries, is the key to tie a good cooperation,” he said.
The Head of State explained about cooperation priorities in some sectors that serve as important pillars of IPEF meeting. Therefore, President Jokowi encouraged all parties to participate in concrete cooperations upon the priorities.
“Green economic development cooperation, trade and investment extensive cooperation, energy transition cooperation, as well as critical mineral supply chain intensification will serve as important pillars of IPEF cooperation,” he further explained.
Additionally, during the occasion, President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation to the 2nd pillar agreement on supply chain that has been signed by IPEF Partners. “(The signing) has given a form of concrete achievement of IPEF economies in response to global supply chain disruption,” the President added.
President Jokowi has also welcomed substantive settlement of the 3rd pillar meeting on clean economy and the 4th pillar on fair economy. Meanwhile, on the 1st pillar meeting on trade, Indonesia has committed to achieve targets set at the meeting immediately.
“Indonesia is committed to conclude the 1st pillar meeting in 2024 and carry out the implementation of mutual agreement,” President Jokowi remarked. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat/AIT)(AW/MUR)
