BKKBN Plays Central Role in Strengthening Families: VP Ma’ruf Amin
The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) has been playing a significant role in strengthening families in Indonesia for more than 50 years, according to Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
“The role of the BKKBN as a central player in building resilience of Indonesian families must continue,” the Vice President said during the 2022 BKKBN National Working Meeting through a video conference, Tuesday (02/22).
On that occasion, the Vice President underscored three important aspects for the BKKBN in strengthening programs of family development, population, and family planning, as well as in reducing stunting rates.
First, fostering an early understanding of the importance of family roles in developing high quality human resources in Indonesia. The family planning program is expected to be intensified to reach the younger generation in remote areas.
“Early understanding of the importance of family resilience will determine the quality of Indonesian families in the future,” he said.
Second, the aspect of accountability in resource management must always be maintained, particularly in stunting reduction measures.
Third, inter-program convergence. Programs, activities, and budgets are expected to complement each other so that the Government interventions will benefit target households.
Closing his remarks, the Vice President expressed hope that the BKKBN could maintain its strategic role to support Indonesian families to be physically and mentally fit and have a good social life, with the support of various Government and non-Government stakeholders.
In the meantime, Head of the BKKBN Hasto Wardoyo said that the Agency would continue to support the Government’s measures to advance the nation, by implementing programs to improve people’s welfare, particularly in reducing stunting rates.
“We stand ready to support the Government in achieving its target, especially in accelerating stunting reduction. We will continue to join hands with relevant Ministries/Agencies to support the convergence of stunting reduction programs and establish a stunting reduction acceleration team,” Hasto remarked.
