BPN Hands Over Borobudur Land Certificate to Education Ministry
Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/the National Land Agency (BPN) on Thursday (08/18) handed over land use right certificate of Borobudur temple to Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
The certificate was handed over by Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the BPN Hadi Tjahjanto to Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim.
“The certificate handover is the result of collaboration of various stakeholders. I hope that the certificate issuance can support tourism development in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Area,” Hadi said.
Hadi added that the certification of Borobudur temple is part of the measures taken by Ministry of Agrarian Affairs to register all land parcels in Indonesia through the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) program.
“The PTSL has succeeded in registering 74 percent of all land parcels in Indonesia, out of a total of 126 million parcels. Certification of Government agency assets is part of the PTSL that must be completed immediately, so that every parcel of land in Indonesia can be registered properly,” he said.
In the meantime, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim said that the year of 2022 is a historic year for Borobudur temple. At the beginning of the year, Borobudur temple was approved as a place of worship for Hindus and Buddhists from all over the world. Then, Borobudur temple was also designated as the host of the G20 Cultural High-Level Meeting which will take place in September.
“The issuance of land use rights certificate for Borobudur temple will support our efforts to protect the cultural heritage of Indonesia,” Nadiem said.
Nadiem also expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the land certification of Borobudur temple which has been carried out since 2015.
“I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all stakeholders who have participated in conducting and finalizing the issuance of this certificate. Once again, this achievement has been made possible thanks to mutual cooperation and collaboration involving various stakeholders,” the Minister said.
Nadiem also invited all stakeholders to continue to strengthen mutual cooperation in managing the Borobudur temple to promote Indonesian culture and support the sustainability and the advancement of the temple.
