Cabinet Secretariat Committed to Developing Gov’t Translators Competence

Cabinet Secretariat is committed to continuously improving the competence of Government translators and interpreters by providing various educational and training programs, Head of Cabinet Secretariat’s Government Translators and Interpreters Development Center (Pusbinter) Sri Wahyu Utami has said.

“The accurate Training Needs Analysis must be carried out to improve the competence of Government translators and interpreters from various agencies,” Sri said during a technical guidance for career development of Government translators and interpreters, Tuesday (24/11).

Sri also said that the Pusbinter would continue to encourage the translators and interpreters to improve their skills and contribute to their respective agencies.

The translators and interpreters must also be able to facilitate mutually beneficial cooperation between Government ministries/agencies or local governments with various parties from other countries and international partners, she added.

She went on to say that Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung had expressed hope that the Pusbinter will be able to to produce competent Government translators and interpreters who will make a real contribution to the progress of the nation.

Sri further said that Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms has issued Regulation Number 1 of 2019 on the preparation, establishment, and development of functional positions (skills-based positions in Government institutions) which stipulates 19 functions of the supervisory agencies, as well as mechanisms for development and performance assessment of functional positions.

“We hope the Pusbinter can implement the mandate of the regulation by managing the development of Government translators and interpreters and taking into account performance appraisal in line with the most recent regulations,” she added.

For the record, Regulation of Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2020 on the Organization and Work Procedures of Cabinet Secretariat stipulates the establishment of the Government Translators and Interpreters Development Center (Pusbinter).

The Development Center has several functions, including managing, overseeing, developing, and providing administrative support for Government translators and interpreters across the nation. (TGH/UN) (RI/EP)
