Synergy and coordination between ministries/institutions are needed to provide the best service to the President and Vice President, especially related to cabinet meeting services, Deputy to Cabinet Secretary for Cabinet Work Support Thanon Aria Dewangga has said.

“Our country is led by a President as a head of state and head of government and is assisted by ministers and heads of institutions. This means that we are all assistants to the President’s assistants. We support our leaders who support the President,” said Thanon in his remarks during a Coordination Meeting on Technical and Administrative Mechanisms for the Cabinet Meeting, in Bandung, West Java province, Friday (26/11).

According to him, the President is a figure who has two roles, namely as head of state and also head of government.

“One man with two roles, first as head of state assisted by State Secretariat and second as the head of government assisted by Cabinet Secretariat,” he remarked.

On that occasion, Thanon also underscored President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s directive to eliminate “sectoral egos” that become obstacles in the bureaucratic world, while underlining that sectoral ego is an issue that should be addressed through de-bureaucratization, digitization, and functionalization.

The coordination meetings, he added, is one way to minimize sectoral egos that can arise due to a high sense of ownership of their respective duties and authorities.

“Let us work together to eliminate our sense of ownership so that it will be easier for us to work with each other to minimize sectoral egos to provide best service to the President and his cabinets,” he remarked. (SLN/UN) (EST/EP)
