Deputy Cabinet Secretary Fadlansyah Lubis officially closed the series of Working-level Seminar between Cabinet Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia and Ministry of Government Legislation (MOLEG) of the Republic of Korea on Thursday (16/9).

“I am grateful and thankful that the Working Level Seminar between MOLEG and Cabinet Secretariat is successfully organized,” Fadlansyah said in his remarks.

The seminar, he added, has provided Secretariat Cabinet considerable knowledge and insights from MOLEG’s video demonstration and discussion sessions. He expressed hope that such cooperation will continue to be made to enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea and bring mutual benefits for both countries.

In the meantime, Deputy Minister of Government Legislation Yeong-soo Han applauded enthusiasm of participants in the seminar. He added that legal work is a fundamental aspect in the establishment of legislative body in the near future.

For the record, there are five events in the series of seminar held from February to September 2021, among others;

  1. The first seminar held on 4 February 2021 adopting the theme “Main Functions and Works of the MOLEG”.
  2. The second seminar held on 25 March 2021 adopting the theme “Legal System and Legislative Process”.
  3. The third seminar held on 27 May 2021 adopting the theme “Statutory Interpretation and Presentation of Opinion”.
  4. The fourth seminar held on 29 June 2021 adopting the theme “Support System for Local Government”.
  5. The fifth seminar held on 16 September 2021 adopting the theme “One Stop National Law System”.

On that occasion, Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Legal, Human Rights, and State Apparatus Purnomo Sucipto asserted that the seminar was made possible by cooperation of both countries with the spirit to improve the Government legislation. He expected both parties to conduct similar events in an effort to follow up Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies.

“For instance, cooperation on transfer of knowledge about review of ministerial regulations which are necessary for us,” he stated.

Earlier in the morning, Cabinet Secretariat and MOLEG on Thursday (169) held a Working-level Seminar adopting a theme “One Stop National Law System” featuring MOLEG’s Senior Deputy Director Legislation Information Division, Jung Seung-taek, as the speaker.

The seminar discussed the importance of an integrated law system in the Republic of Korea. The system improves public access to both past and prevailing legal products and regulations in the country.

“If the Central Government and regional governments have their own systems, it would be confusing for the public to know which one that provides information they need. Therefore, it is better to integrate information provided by all institutions,” he said.

For the record, MOLEG is the only institution in South Korea that integrates and manages law information in the country, as well as provides daily update to the information and disseminates it to the public through Korean Law Information Center and mobile apps. (DND/UN) (RAS/MUR)
