Cabinet Secretariat Holds FGD on Local Food Development
Office of the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Economic Affairs Thursday (07/07) held a virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) adopting the theme “Local Food Development”.
For the record, Country Director at Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for Indonesia Rajendra Aryal acted as one of the key-speakers during this second discussion series.
Other speakers include Head of the Research for Center for Indonesian Policy Studies Felippa Amanta and Senior Manager of e-Fishery Indonesia Dimas Sandya Sulistio.
The discussion was joined by 82 participants from Cabinet Secretariat and representatives of related ministries/institutions.
“From Mr. Rajendra, we hope to get an overview on the condition and outlook for food security in Indonesia, our neighboring countries, or globally, on how Indonesia’s food security policies differ from those of other developing countries,” Deputy to Cabinet Secretary for Economic Affairs Satya Bhakti Parikesit said, adding that through an overview the Government can focus itself on key issues as the Government currently aims to diversify food through the development of local food due to the threats of the global food crisis.
“This has actually been discussed several times, be it in plenary cabinet sessions, limited meetings, and internal meetings chaired by the President. The President has stated the order for local food development to anticipate the existing food crisis on several occasions,” he said.
Previously, in the first discussion series several speakers from government elements presented their take on the issues and Cabinet Secretariat has formulated a recommendation to the President based on the discussion.
“This is one of the implementations of our duties and functions at Cabinet Secretariat, which has the functions to prepare analysis and recommendations on policy plans to the President. We hope that from the FGD we can get a picture so we can provide a complete recommendation to the Government, of course to the President through the Cabinet Secretary,” he said. (TGH/UN) (FI/EP)
