Office of the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Economic Affairs Wednesday (02/21) held a virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Urgency of Sustainability of Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2019 on the National Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil Plantations (NAP SPOP) for 2019-2024.

On the discussion, Deputy to Cabinet Secretary for Economic Affairs Satya Bhakti Parikesit stated the FGD was held to discuss the completion of the 2019-2024 NAP SPOP as well as to gather input from related parties for the formulation of action plans for the next administration.

“Prior to the end of the enforcement of Presidential Instruction on NAP SPOP in November this year, improvements to the national palm oil system are still not complete so there is still quite a lot of room for corrections and improvement. For that reason, a strategy and commitment with all related stakeholders is needed to ensure the completion of work in the final enforcement year as well as the continuity of implementation of the upcoming NAP SPOP policy,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretariat, Bhakti added, extracted a number of strategic matters including the position of the NAP SPOP as the orchestrator of national palm oil policy in ministerial/institutional sectors, which in its implementation involves non-government parties.

“Ministries/institutions are expected to provide input on activity programs related to the NAP SPOP into the National Medium Term Development Plan of 2025-2029 to serve as a reference in the formulation of annual development plans, both in the Central and regional governments,” Bhakti concluded.
