Cabinet Secretariat, S. Korea’s Ministry of Government Legislation Hold Seminar on Investment Regulation and Social Welfare

Cabinet Secretariat cooperated with South Korea’s Ministry of Government Legislation (MoLeg) held Best Practices Seminar on Regulation for Investment and Social Welfare in the Republic of Korea, Pullman Hotel, Thamrin, Jakarta, Wednesday (08/07).

Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Purnomo Sucipto mentioned that the seminar has proved to be a concrete cooperation between both state institutions.

Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah, today, August 7, 2024, we have held a seminar which is part of the cooperation stated in the 2022-2024 plan of action,” Purnomo said.

According to Purnomo, Indonesia can have lessons from South Korea in the influence of investment and social welfare to make positive impacts on a country. He emphasized that effective and efficient regulation holds an important role in creating conducive investment and sustainable social welfare.

“Therefore, challenges and opportunities in formulating laws and regulation in investment and social welfare should be anticipated and predicted, especially in the era of globalization and the current complexity of economic dynamics,” he said firmly.

Furthermore, Purnomo said that the seminar is a part of capability development of Cabinet Secretariat’s officials and staff in gaining knowledge on South Korea’s best practices, innovation, and success story in formulating regulation in investment and social welfare.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Director General of Laws Coordination Bureau Yoon Kang Wook mentioned that MoLeg is a central administrative institution that conducts coordination, provides supports, reviews, and analysis, as well as revises government’s laws.

“One of the efforts needed to promote investment is terminating unnecessary regulations. South Korea has stipulated laws on administrative regulation to terminate unnecessary administrative regulations, and to prevent inefficient formulation of administrative regulation,” Yoon Kang Wook explained.

With efficient regulation, Kang Wook added, the Government of South Kores is committed to protect its people from social risks, such as unemployment, diseases and disability. In addition, the government also makes efforts to improve the quality of people’s life through various social security programs, including national pension, health insurance, and so on.
