President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, on Wednesday (3/5) afternoon, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, presided over a Limited Meeting on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Annual Meetings which are slated to take place from 8-14 October 2018 in Bali.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung estimated that there will be about 15,000 attendees to the annual meetings, and possibly the number will increase because if someone brings their families, groups, and so on. “So this is one of the biggest events that we will hold, and if we notice the time of hosting the Asian Games, it is only one month less, as the Asian Games will be held on 18 August to 2 September 2018,” Pramono told reporters after the Limited Meeting.

Therefore, Cabinet Secretary further explained that 2018 will be a really busy year, with a series of activities, because we will also hold simultaneous Regional Head Elections (pilkada), with a total of 171 regional elections.

Cabinet Secretary added that in the Limited Meeting, President Jokowi requested in detail the preparations for the IMF, the World Bank Annual Meeting, and the Asian Games, as well as for pilkada.

Moreover, Cabinet Secretary continued, at that stage we will enter the so-called preparations for legislative election and presidential election in 2019. “So in October we will find out who will be the candidates for President and Vice President,” Pramono explained.

According to Cabinet Secretary, such intense activities pose a challenge and a promotion for us. Therefore, the Government will prepare well for the events, including preparations for holiday destinations as well as tours for participants of the IMF and the World Bank Meetings.
