Cabinet Secretary: Democracy is the Country’s Problem Solver
Democracy often solves various problems in the country, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung has said.
“Problems related to ethnicity, religion, and other sensitive issues are the things that make our democracy more mature,” Pramono said in Jakarta, Wednesday (4/3).
The most recent issue on the country’s democracy, Pramono continued, is identity politics.
“I hope the democratic process in our nation will make us better in choosing our leader(s),” he said.
On that occasion, Pramono also said that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered to continue infrastructure development, especially outside the island of Java in a bid to overcome connectivity problems in the country.
Pramono went on to say that the country’s human capital development could be a synergy between government agencies and non-government agencies.
“Otherwise, we cannot make the leap as expected by the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), McKinsey, or the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas),” he added. (MAY/EN)
