The Functional Officials of Translators/Interpreters (PFP) play a role in realizing Indonesia as an advanced nation through translating state documents for the benefit of the nation, according to Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Administrative Affairs Farid Utomo.
“That is the important role the Government translators play,” Farid said at the opening of an online technical training for translation of Government legal text for Batch V Class of 2020 in Jakarta, Tuesday (3/11).
Farid further said that to date, the Government translators have worked in 540 regencies/municipalities, 34 provincial governments, and 88 ministries/institutions at the central level.
The technical training, Farid continued, must be once again held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Still, I believe that online technical training will produce the same output as that of the offline technical training,” he added.
Farid expressed hope that the participants can improve their competence and technical abilities after joining the training. “It is hoped that your competence can be used not only for yourself but also for the sake of the nation, Indonesia,” he said.
For the record, the technical training will be held on 3-16 November 2020 and will be attended by 20 PFP from 15 central government institutions and 5 local government institutions.
Having previously fostered by Assistant to the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for State Documents and Translation under Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Cabinet Work Support, the PFPs are now under the Center for Government Translators and Interpreters Fostering of Deputy for Administrative Affairs of Cabinet Secretariat.
