Cabinet Secretary: Gov’t Committed to Developing Human Capital

The Government is committed to developing its human capital and has also provided a substantial budget for human capital, according to Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.

The statement was made by Pramono in his public lecture at Brawijaya University (UB) in the East Java town of  Malang on Saturday (8/2).

Pramono added that the Government will make a significant change in education sector and will also overhaul the country’s education system.

“(The education) must be connected to industry. The Government will also provide three to four semester internships program,” he said.

Cabinet Secretary also cited the example of education system in Japan that only provides five subjects for the students of Elementary Schools, including arts, mathematics, language, and ethics.

The challenges at the workplace, he added, have changed, while pointing out that the Government will provide internship programs for university students.   “The internship program aims to change the students’ mindset,” he said, adding that the university must be ready to support the program.

The policy, he added, also aims to connect the education sector to industry and research sector.

Pramono further said that the Government also supports research development and its application to benefit the people.  (DND/EN)
