The Government organized a grand public event called “The Palace for the People” which hosted people’s bazaar and public entertainment at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta on Saturday (03/28). In a warm and amicable atmosphere, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya personally greeted the people visiting the event, delivering President Prabowo Subianto’s message while ensuring the event ran smoothly.
He explained that this event was organized in response to the public’s high enthusiasm for a similar activity previously held at the Palace during Eid al-Fitr on Saturday (03/21). The Government therefore expanded the access for the public to allow more people to benefit from such an activity.
“The President instructed us to hold a bazaar, affordable market, public entertainment, and children’s games so that the joy of Eid is still alive and can be felt by as many people as possible,” he said.
In this event, the Government provided 100,000 shopping vouchers worth Rp500,000 each, which could be used to obtain staple commodities and MSMEs products. Additionally, around 300,000 portions of free foods and drinks were prepared, along with various forms of public entertainment and children’s play areas.
The Cabinet Secretary was seen interacting directly with the public several times and repeatedly apologized for the queues caused by the public’s high enthusiasm.
According to him, the public’s high enthusiasm is a very positive response, even though it led to queues at several points. Nevertheless, this had been anticipated with various supporting facilities.
Furthermore, this event also had a significant economic impact by involving hundreds to thousands of MSMEs from various regions, helping to boost the economy during the post-Eid period.
For the record, “The Palace for the People” event is a collaboration between the Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs (UMKM), and the Presidential Secretariat. (HIM/AIT) (RAS/TM)
