Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya with Minister of Manpower Yassierli inspected the National Internship Program Batch 2 at Paragon Community Hub, South Jakarta, Tuesday (01/27) to ensure it runs smoothly and effectively.

“We inspected the program. Here they are really working, they have mentors, they’re being trained, and gaining experience,” said Teddy.

He said that this government-initiated program not only provides valuable work experience for university fresh graduates but also offers companies a chance to recruit quality workers. The interns also receive a government-provided salary equivalent to the minimum wage of the regency/city where they are placed.

“This internship also serves as a form of selection. So, permanent employees can be recruited from these interns, making it easier for the companies,” he stated.

Teddy revealed that, according to company reports, 175 interns who have been working at Paragon for two months have shown high enthusiasm and good adaptability to the work environment.

“The interns adapted quickly, innovated creatively in line with the current trend, and significantly boosted productivity and customer demand,” Teddy added.

The inspection featured casual and warm interactions with the interns. One of them, Ayu Annisa from Bogor, shared that the program provided meaningful experience and preparation for entering the workforce.

“This program helps us prepare ourselves before entering the workforce,” said Ayu.

Ayu also expressed gratitude to the government for the program, which she views as highly beneficial for fresh graduates in gaining work experience, career preparation, and income for various needs.

“I can use the salary I earn to help my family who were recently affected by floods in West Sumatra,” Ayu said.

Through the National Internship Program Batch 2, the Government via the Ministry of Manpower has recruited 62,754 interns placed in over 4,600 companies and 47 ministries/institutions. Overall, across the three batches launched in phases in October, November, and December, the Government has successfully met its target of 100,000 participants. (LYS/DID) (EST/LW)
