Cabinet Secretary: President Prabowo-President Trump Trade Agreement is a Historic Turning Point

President Prabowo and U.S. President Trump sign a historic turning point agreement (02/19)
President Prabowo Subianto and U.S. President Donald Trump signed a historic trade agreement in Washington, D.C., United States, on Thursday (02/19). The signing marked an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in strategic economic and trade cooperation.
In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the agreement constitutes a Reciprocal Trade Agreement between Indonesia and the United States, designed to enhance mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
“This historic agreement between the United States and the Republic of Indonesia contains a Reciprocal Trade Agreement. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the swift and sustained measures taken by the two countries and reaffirmed their strong commitment to implementing this major agreement,” said Cabinet Secretary.
President Prabowo and President Trump expect that the implementation of the agreement will strengthen economic security, drive national economic growth in both countries, and contribute positively to global economic stability and prosperity.
“This agreement will strengthen economic security, promote economic growth, and sustainably contribute to global prosperity,” he added.
Furthermore, Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated that both leaders have ordered their respective ministers and relevant officials to take follow-up measures to ensure the effective implementation of the agreement.
“President Trump and President Prabowo have also ordered their ministers and related officials to take further steps to usher in a new golden era of the United States–Indonesia strategic partnership,” he concluded.
The reciprocal trade agreement stands as a strong symbol of deepening trust and strategic cooperation between the two nations in navigating global economic dynamics, while reaffirming Indonesia’s position as an important U.S. partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
