President Prabowo on Wednesday (04/08) highlighted two government strategic policies prepared to address global uncertainty and aviation fuel price surge during a meeting with all the Red-and-White Cabinet members and all the Echelon I officials from Ministries, Institutions, and Government Agencies, as well as CEOs of State-Owned Enterprises, at the Presidential Palace complex, as conveyed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his written statement.

“President Prabowo stated two key policies prepared amid global uncertainty and aviation fuel price surge, namely the reduction of the Hajj cost and the evaluation of the use of forest areas for mining,” Teddy wrote.

Regarding this year’s Hajj organization, Teddy affirmed that the Government will not increase the Hajj cost and instead, will reduce it by Rp2 million and shorten the waiting time for those aspiring to perform the Hajj to a maximum of 26 years starting this year.

“Although there is a surge in aviation fuel price, President Prabowo ensured there will be no increase in the Hajj cost. Instead, it will be reduced by Rp2 million. The Government also asserted commitment to shorten the waiting time for those aspiring to perform the Hajj to a maximum of 26 years starting 2026,” Teddy wrote.

In response to the aviation fuel price surge, the Government will provide financial support worth Rp1.77 trillion for 220,000 Hajj pilgrims. “The Government will cover the price gap, so that the pilgrims will not be affected by the price surge,” Teddy continued.

In addition, the Government will soon begin the development of Indonesia’s Hajj Village (Kampung Haji) in Makkah to improve service for Hajj pilgrims. “Soon, the construction of Kampung Haji in Makkah will start,” he added.

Regarding forest area protection, Teddy said that President Prabowo has instructed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of mining business permits (IUP).

“President Prabowo has instructed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to evaluate the permits (IUP) for mining in protected forests, conservation forests, national parks, and other forest areas, and revoke the permits if the permit holders are proven to have committed serious violations,” he concluded.
