Cabinet Secretary Teddy Inspects Construction of Decent Housing for Senen Rail-Side Community

Cabinet Secretary Teddy and President Director of State-Run Railway Company KAI Bobby Rasyidin inspect the progress of housing construction on Saturday morning, April 25, 2026.

The Government continues to accelerate the construction of decent and comfortable housing for the residents living along railway tracks. This program is a follow-up to President Prabowo’s directives on improving quality of life of people in dense urban areas.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that the housing construction focuses on Pasar Senen Station area in Jakarta in which many communities still live in poor living condition.

“According to Mr. President’s directives, the Government is building decent and comfortable housing for people living along railway tracks, especially in the Pasar Senen area, only two kilometers from downtown,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy said in a written statement.

On Saturday morning (04/25) Cabinet Secretary along with President Director of State-Run Railway Company KAI Bobby Rasyidin inspected the progress of housing construction. The inspection was carried out to ensure that the construction is going well as planned and responding to community needs.

Cabinet Secretary also said that President Prabowo visited the location on March 26, 2026 as he concerned on the condition of people living along the railway tracks.

“Mr. President made a spontaneous visit to the slum a month ago on March 26, 2026,” he said.

The new residence is located approximately 500 meters from the Pasar Senen railway tracks. The housing complex is designed with various supporting facilities, including proper dwelling places, bathrooms, toilets and good access for clean water, places of worship, and a children’s playground.

“The construction is carried out quickly through strong collaboration between Ministry of Housings and other relevant State-Owned Enterprises,” Cabinet Secretary said.

This area development program will not only focus on Pasar Senen but will also be gradually expanded to other areas. The Government aims to continuously improve the quality of residential areas, especially for those currently living in slum areas.

“Restructuring residential areas will also be carried out in other locations gradually and periodically,” he said.
