President Prabowo Subianto received a telephone call from President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, in Jakarta on the evening of Monday (06/15). The communication reflected the close relationship between Indonesia and Palestine, which has long been grounded in a spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and support for the Palestinian people’s struggle.

In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that President Mahmoud Abbas provided an update on the latest developments in Palestine to President Prabowo. During the conversation, President Abbas also expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s consistent support for the Palestinian people.

“President Mahmoud Abbas shared the latest developments in Palestine and expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s steadfast and tangible support for the Palestinian people,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy said.

President Abbas further expressed his hope that Indonesia would continue to play an active role in supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle amid the current global dynamics. He noted that Indonesia’s leadership under President Prabowo carries significant weight and attracts considerable attention in various international forums.

“President Mahmoud Abbas also expressed his hope that Indonesia would continue to play an active role in supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle. According to President Abbas, Indonesia’s voice and leadership under President Prabowo are of great significance and receive broad attention in various international forums,” the Cabinet Secretary added.

President Prabowo has long been known for his consistent and tangible support for Palestine, including during his tenure as Minister of Defense. Such support has been demonstrated through the delivery of humanitarian aid by air and sea, the deployment of a hospital ship and medical personnel, the provision of educational opportunities for 100 Palestinian children at the Defense University, as well as Indonesia’s firm advocacy for Palestine in various international forums.

In response, President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to continuing its support for the Palestinian people’s struggle. The President also underscored the importance of achieving a just and dignified peace for the Palestinian people.

Indonesia’s support for Palestine is both a constitutional mandate and a reflection of the country’s consistent foreign policy commitment to independence, humanity, and world peace. Through the communication between the two leaders, Indonesia once again reaffirmed its position of standing with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of their legitimate rights.
