Cabinet Secretary to Visit Kediri Airport’s Construction Site

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono are slated to visit the construction site of Kediri Airport, East Java, Saturday (15/2).

The development of the airport which is included in the National Strategic Project will begin in April 2020 after land acquisition process is done.

For the record, the airport development is fully funded by private company through Government and Business Entities Cooperation (KPBU). Cigarette producer Gudang Garam, as the investor, funds the land acquisition and the construction process, while State-owned Airport Operator PT Angkasa Pura I will be responsible for the management.

The airport will be built on 450 hectares of land and projected to finish in 2.5 years. The Phase I is scheduled to be completed in 2020, with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers.

The airport will serve domestic flights only in East Java, while international routes will be served by Juanda International Airport, Surabaya.

Kediri Airport is expected to boost economic growth, increase the number of tourists, facilitate the people, and open job opportunities to the people living in Kediri and its surrounding areas.

Besides visiting the construction site of Kediri Airport, Cabinet Secretary along Minister of Transportation as well as Minister of Public Works and Public Housing are also slated to inaugurate student dorms of Hidayatul Mubtadiin Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School. (BKIP Kemenhub/FID/EN)
