The Cibitung – Cilincing Toll Road is expected to improve connectivity between industrial and logistics areas in Bekasi and Karawang with Tanjung Priok Sea Port in North Jakarta. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“The industrial and logistics areas in Karawang and Bekasi will be directly connected with Tanjung Priok Sea Port. That is the goal,” said the President after inaugurating the toll road, Tuesday (09/22) in Bekasi regency, West Java province.

This connectivity, he continued, will facilitate the mobility of goods while increasing the competitiveness of export products from Indonesia.

“The goal is to increase the competitiveness of our domestic products. Without good infrastructure, it is impossible for us to compete with other countries,” he added.

The presence of the Cibitung – Cilincing toll road will also provide an alternative route between Tanjung Priok Port and Patimban Port in Subang regency so that it will create competition in the field of logistics services.

“The Patimban toll road is expected to complete in 2024. And the good thing is that there will be a competition between Tanjung Priok and Patimban ports, and that will cause improvement in service,” he remarked.

Echoing similar sentiment, representative of Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Danang Parikesit said that the Cibitung – Cilincing Toll Road, which is part of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2, is an important segment because it connects industrial areas located in the western part of Greater Jakarta.

“Almost all industrial areas—around 60-70 percent—are in the eastern part of Jakarta. This section will connect Cibitung to Cilincing and then to Tanjung Priok Port,” said Danang.

He added that the Cibitung – Cilincing Toll Road has a transit hub which is a ‘rest area’ for logistics. The transit hub is expected to reduce the loading and unloading time (dwelling time) at Tanjung Priok port.

“This ‘rest area’ will cover an area of 40 hectares which is expected to become a transit center for containers that will enter Tanjung Priok port and further reduce the dwelling time in the port. This facility makes the Cibitung-Cilincing segment an important segment of the entire JORR 2 segment,” said Danang.

In addition, the Cibitung – Cilincing Toll Road is also able to accommodate container vehicles that have a heavy volume.

“We estimate that nationally the volume of heavy vehicles for class II to V is between 10-15 percent, most likely in this section it can reach 30 percent so that it can transport large containers with the heaviest axle load of 8-10 tons per year,” said Danang. (DND/UN) (EST/LW)
