As much as 70 percent of housing for state civil apparatus (ASN), the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in the new Nusantara Capital’s Central Government Area (KIPP) will remain state-owned official residence that is not for sale.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo made the decision during a limited meeting on state civil apparatus housing construction progress in Nusantara Capital at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Wednesday (04/12).

“This is in line with Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022. It is because ASN and defense and security personnel who are stationed there will not always remain the same. KIPP will not become a city where retirees live and new ASN will not live in faraway areas, so they will always be close to their workplace,” Deputy Head of Nusantara Capital Authority Dhony Rahajoe stated in his press statement following the meeting.

Meanwhile, the other 30 percent of housing, Dhony added, can be owned by ASN, TNI, and Polri.

“The 30 percent can be owned by ASN as well as defense and security personnel or the general public. We have regulated it and we will begin [offering the housing] once the infrastructure and proper facilities that people need to live there are ready, including schools,” he said.

In the meantime, Minister of the National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa pointed out that the housing for ASN, TNI, and Polri in Nusantara Capital consists of vertical and landed housing.

“Houses for ASN are not only vertical houses or apartments but also landed houses. And landed houses, I am saying this once again, can be owned. So can apartments. However, 70 percent of them will remain state-owned and 30 percent will be offered to ASN, TNI, and Polri,” he said.

According to Suharso, the construction of housing for ASN, TNI, and Polri has proceeded according to the planning stage and Building and Environmental Planning (RTBL).

Suharso further said that the number of state apparatus who will live in Nusantara Capital reaches 16,990.

“It was previously decided in January that 16,990 people will be relocated; approximately 11,200 are ASN and 5,700 are TNI and Polri personnel. There will be 1,600 people from Polri and more than 3,000 are from the TNI,” Suharso remarked. (FID/TGH/UN) (DH/MUR)
