Community Housing to be Built in Several Provinces

Development of community housing as conducted by Garut Barber Shop Community (PPRG) will be implemented in other provinces and communities, according to President “Jokowi” Widodo.

“If the community has aggreed on it, we will prepare facilities for credit, subsidy, and Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP),” President Jokowi said after laying the foundation stone of the construction of  the PPRG community housing, in Banyuresmi, Garut, West Java, on Saturday (19/1).

The President added that as long as the community proposes it, the Government will prepare a credit facility and find a property developer.

For the record, community housing under FLPP scheme is also developed in Jakarta, Bandung, Serang, and Karawang, President Jokowi added.

The President also expressed hope that the community housing can help to address housing shortage. “It has exceeded the 1 million new houses target in 2018,” he added.

When reporters asked for houses for their community, President Jokowi suggested that they must propose it.

What type do you want? Just hand me a proposal, I am serious. Directorate General of Housing at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing will provide a credit facility and find you a property developer,” President Jokowi responded.

Also attending the occasion were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Coordinator for Presidential Special Staff Teten Masduki, and Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil. (EN/DNS/ES)
