Covid-19 Outbreak: Indonesia Reports 227 Confirmed Cases, 11 Recover, 19 Dead

Indonesia’s covid-19 tally has spiked to 227 cases as of Wednesday (18/3) with 11 of them recovered and 19 dead, the Government’s spokesperson on covid-19 Achmad Yurianto has announced.

The additional cases come from a number of provinces in the country, including capital Jakarta (two more cases), Banten province (four more cases), Yogyakarta Special Region (one more case), West Java province (twelve more cases), Central Java province (two more cases), North Sumatera province (one more case), Lampung province (one more case), Riau province (one more case), and East Kalimantan province (one more case).

For the death toll, according to Yurianto, one is from Bali province, one from Banten province, twelve from capital Jakarta, one from West Java province, two Central Java province, one is East Java province, and one from North Sumatera province.

Yurianto added that the death toll data showed a sudden increase due to misinformation from local hospitals which did not report their data to the central Government since last week (12/3).

“That is the latest data for today (18/3). The Government will regularly update the data, which later can be available on the Government’s official website that currently being prepared by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB),” Yuri said. (UN/EN)
