Head of COVID-19 National Task Force Doni Monardo asserted that lockdown will not be imposed to 8 provinces with the highest confirmed COVID-19 cases.

“All we need to do is carry on restriction on crowd. We must remind each other if you know there will be an activity with large crowds,” Doni said to respond reporters’ questions at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday (13/7).

He also reminded all to avoid crowd of any occasion, including sport event, recreation, and other occasions that have risk of COVOD-19 infections.

“For example, staying inside a closed room with limited air circulation and poor ventilation increases the risk of being infected,” he said.

The Head of Task Force reminded all that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo ordered to restrict activities if there is a surge in COVID-19 new cases. The restriction covers duration of the activity and the number of participants.

Regarding school reopening, the Task Force only gives recommendation to schools in green zones. However, the Task Force is currently considering the reopening of school in yellow zone due to the request from the parents and schools.

The Task Force, he added, is in a discussion with Ministry of Education and Culture about that matter. If the Ministry gives approval, classroom can only be filled at 25 or 30 percent capacity.

On travel restriction, he explained that epidemiologists have provided inputs on rapid test for those seeking to travel. The virus can be transmitted easily during travel to anyone, including the reporters.

For that reason, Doni reminded all to not involve in outdoor activity if they are not feeling well since anyone can be virus carrier and may infect other people. (TGH/EN)
