Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo mentioned that local wisdom-based approaches to be the most effective way to disseminate information on COVID-19 to the public.

Doni suggested regional leaders at the lowest level, such as village heads, to use language that is easily understood by the locals using local languages.

“Foreign terms must be translated into languages that can be understood by the public, including translate it to the local languages,” said Doni when delivering a press statement after attending a Limited Meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (29/6).

Furthermore, he added that the President gave directives to increase the number of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) personnel in the context of mitigation efforts, as well as the number of doctors, nurses, and medical equipment.

Likewise, continued Doni, the role of students in the regions is also important to set example to the public to always wear face masks, keep a safe distance and wash hands.

He added that one of the points that is quite difficult to do is maintain physical distance. “Therefore, all leaders in the regions are urged to be able to carry out various strategies and innovations to reduce and avoid public crowd,” Doni said. (FID / EN)
