COVID-19 Task Force Ordered to Intensify Dissemination on 3M Health Protocols

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered the COVID-19 Task Force to continue intensifying measures to improve public compliance towards health protocols in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“In accordance with the President’s directives, we will constantly raise public awareness about the need to thoroughly implement the ‘3M’ health protocols comprising wearing a face mask, washing hands, and maintaining physical distancing,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto who also helms the Committee for COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) said, Monday (21/06).

In response to the President’s directives, Chairperson of COVID-19 Task Force Ganip Warsito stressed that the task force is taking measures to boost public discipline in observing health protocols through dissemination and education on health protocols.

“As Chairperson of COVID-19 Task Force, I have been ordered by the President to focus on disciplining the ‘3M’ health protocols on the ground. In this case, the task force is collaborating with Commander of the Indonesian National Defense forces (TNI), Chief of the National Police, and Ministry of Health to continue intensifying educational outreach activities for the ‘3M’ health protocols to individuals, communities, agencies, and the public,” Ganip said.

Ganip went on to say that the task force is also optimizing micro-scale restriction (PPKM Mikro) command posts by implementing four aspects in the function of PPKM Mikro command posts, namely prevention, handling, fostering, and supporting.

“During the implementation of PPKM Mikro, the Indonesian National Defense forces and the National Police have provided assistance for PPKM Mikro command posts and deployed more personnel in 29 red zone areas to execute judicial operations in terms of enforcing health protocols discipline,” he said.

Furthermore, Ganip also underscored that the health protocols discipline is focused on activities carried out by individuals, communities, institutions, and the public in certain locations that can potentially trigger mass gathering and lead to health protocols violation, such as public facilities, restaurants, cafes, housing complexes, sports venues, malls, as well as tourist destinations.

“We are also restricting and reducing people’s mobility from the upstream of COVID-19 handling through the implementation of PPKM Mikro policy,” he remarked. (FID/TGH/UN) (RIF/EP)
