Head of COVID-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo has said that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had instructed him to announce regions with a yellow status or low-risk of COVID-19 threat.

According to Doni, the color zoning based on COVID-19 data—high, low, medium— will also be announced so the public can decide when to start their ‘new normal’ activities.

However, he added, those data may vary day by day and can change anytime depending on the new number of COVID-19 cases in those regions.

“For example, a region with yellow zone or low risk of COVID-19 may change into an orange zone if there are several new cases. So our benchmark is the data reported and then adjusted to the provisions issued by the WHO related to epidemiology, surveillance, and also the availability of existing health facilities in each region,” Doni said Thursday (2/6).

Doni also explained that the President had given directives to start easing restrictions for a number of industries, especially mining, industry, plantation and several other sectors.

“The sectors include those which have a small risk for the surrounding communities. The Task Force will discuss with the relevant ministries and institutions on which types of fields that need relaxation,” Doni said.

In the meantime, regarding health protocol, Doni underlined that it is mandatory for every activity to follow the protocol until the COVID-19 vaccine is developed. (FID/EN)
