President Joko Widodo instructed ministers and heads of institutions to carefully manage and discuss the 2017 Draft State Budget with the House. He called on them to focus on finishing the discussion on the 2017 draft with the commissions and budget committees.

“It must be punctual as we have decided,” said President Jokowi in his welcome speech in the limited meeting on the Progress of the 2016 Revised State Budget and the 2017 Draft State Budget, at the presidential office, Jakarta, Friday (16/9) afternoon.

He also pled that the 2017 State Budget be anticipated and put top priority to accommodate any delayed project or urgent program in 2016, as to avoid dismissal of primary projects.

He went on to emphasise that each and every ministry/institution must not requisition supplementary budget to the Commission.

“Once more, any ministry shall not individually walk into the house commissions’ offices. They must cooperate with the government. Otherwise, our budget will not be realised properly,” affirmed the President.

He proceeded that the ministry/institution budgetary discussion with the commission must be concerned only with programs. “I remind you that the discussion must focus on programs only, not on the detail usage. No way,” he warned.

The limited meeting on the Progress of the 2016 Revised State Budget and the 2017 Draft State Budget was attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Minister of the State Secretariat Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Head of Presidential Staff Teten Masduki, Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Hanif Dakhiri, Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukito, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of National Land Authority Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, Attorney General Prasetyo, and Head of Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong.(FID/DND/ES) (HP/AW/YM/Naster)
