President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Distinguished Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and heads of regional offices of the BIN in 14 provinces that organize vaccination for senior high school and junior high school students.

First and foremost, I would like to greet the students.

Good morning.

Student of Senior High School and Junior High School

Good morning.

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

First, I would like to thank and express appreciation for participants from (a number of ) junior high schools and senior high schools who join this morning’s vaccination. Today we will provide vaccination for 49,000 people, including 15,000 junior high school students, 15,000 senior high school students, and 19,000 participants of door to door vaccination program.

Let me reiterate that once all students are vaccinated, teachers and school officials should also be fully vaccinated. We want to ramp up vaccination to achieve herd immunity and to contain COVID-19 pandemic. I have talked via video calls to Arya and Risel who have got their jabs. I asked them: did the vaccine shot hurt? They said it did not hurt. Hence, you do not need to worry about it.

If you have something to say, I would like to hear from you.

We impose the PPKM to restrict community activities and reduce interaction and contact among the people to avoid COVID-19 transmission. The PPKM aims to reduce mobility, contact, and human interaction to control the spread of COVID-19.

Theoretically, when the mobility decreases and the interaction between people decreases, the spread will also certainly decrease. Several countries have imposed lockdown, some have imposed strict restrictions, and some have imposed micro-scale PPKM.

The essence of lockdown or PPKM is to reduce mobility and reduce interaction between people. That is my answer, Kris. Good luck with your study. Please send my regards to your teachers and your parents.

Today we are still combatting the pandemic and the pandemic is not over yet. Previously we planned to allow face-to-face learning on a limited basis in July. However, the recent psike in the number of COVID-19 cases has made us suspend the plan.

I am aware that students want to go back to school and meet friends and teachers. But we all have to be careful because COVID-19 is still spreading, not only in our country, but also in other countries around the globe, so we cannot allow face-to-face learning yet.

Once the COVID-19 has been contained, we will allow face-to-face learning in all schools in the country. The most important thing is that Ayu and other students must keep your spirits high in your studying. If you have something to ask during online learning, ask your teachers.

Please send my regards to your teachers at Senior High School 1 Tanjungpinang and your parents

Thank you, Ayu.

Ayu Lestari (Student of Senior High School 1 Tanjungpinang)

The Indonesian people have positive and strong energy to stay healthy and to achieve a great Indonesia. We all believe that we can make it happen. We all pray that all of our efforts and endeavors will be blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, so that the Indonesian people will soon be able to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

And I hope that the national economic recovery and national development programs can be immediately achieved to bring the welfare to the people in order to make Indonesia a prosperous country with blessings from God (Baldatun Thayyibatun wa Rabbun Ghafur)

That concludes my remarks. I thank you.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
