Bureaucratic reforms should be realized through digital transformation in public services coupled with a mindset change, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has said.

“This is necessary. We should not only change public services online or use digital applications, but we should also couple it with a behavior change,” the Vice President said in his remarks at the 2020 Personnel National Coordination Meeting which was held virtually, Thursday (17/12).

The Vice President went on to say that digital governance consists of a solution and a necessity in optimizing public services.

“The digital transformation will also include the entire integrated service area to create an added value that gives satisfaction to the public as service users,” he said.

In order to support the program, he added, the Government has set aside a budget of Rp30.5 trillion to speed up the digital transformation of government administration.

“One of the measures is the establishment of internet access in 4,000 villages and sub-districts in the Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged (3T) regions in Indonesia. A total of 233 villages have been designated as examples of digital villages in the country,” he stated.

On that occasion, the Vice President also said that the mastery and the use of information technology as well as technology innovation must be a built-in capacity of bureaucracy.

“The support for human resources and information technology must be improved simultaneously and integrated in order to respond to the demands of dynamic, agile, effective, and efficient public services and bureaucracy,” he said. (KIP SETWAPRES/UN) (RIF/MUR)
