The optimism of Indonesian businesspeople for national economic prospects continuously strengthened under President Prabowo’s administration, as reflected in Domestic Investment (PMDN), which reached approximately Rp2,000 trillion in the first two years of the administration, accounting for more than half of the total national investment.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Anindya Bakrie stated that the significant contribution of domestic investment demonstrates the strategic role of national entrepreneurs, including medium-sized entrepreneurs, in strengthening Indonesia’s economic resilience. According to him, the participation of the business sector in investment is a crucial asset in maintaining economic resilience amid global uncertainty.

“We note that our domestic investment also involves our colleagues working in the middle-market segment. We believe that this could further strengthen our resilience,” Anindya stated in his report delivered at the Presidential Briefing for Participants of the Presidential Program for Future Indonesian Leaders (P3MDI) Batch 1 for the 2026 Fiscal Year and participants of the Kadin National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) at the President’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java Province, on Saturday (10/31).

Anindya further underscored that the business community is also committed to contributing to the development of future industries, rather than focusing solely on strengthening existing ones. Several sectors considered to have significant opportunities for development include electric vehicles (EV), renewable energy, and data centers, all of which offer considerable opportunities for the utilization of locally sourced components.

“Not only for the existing industries, but also for the future ones. For example, the EV industry, renewable energy, and data centers, they have considerable potential for local components. Ladies and Gentlemen, and of course, Mr. President, the theme of this year’s National Leadership Meeting is people-oriented economy and leading Indonesia to the global stage,” Anindya added.

Anindya also highlighted the significant role of the private sector in the national economy. He stated that the business community has a significant role to play in driving economic growth, expanding business opportunities, and creating new entrepreneurs capable of competing at both national and global levels.

“People-oriented economy is already operating in the business community. We recognize, and this is our responsibility, that Rp4,000 trillion out of the Rp25,000 trillion of our GDP comes from the state budget. Therefore, the remaining 85 percent represents the segment to which the business community can contribute. And we expect regional entrepreneurs and their associations to not only grow together and move up to higher levels, but also become major players in the future,” Anindya explained.

On that occasion, Anindya also noted that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals continue to demonstrate resilience amid various global disruptions. He stated that Indonesia remains one of the world’s economic bright spots, as previously stated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“As per the IMF announcement last year, Indonesia continues to be a bright spot, and it has been proven that Indonesia remains as it is. Despite five economic shocks over the past 25 years, Indonesia has emerged stronger each time. This demonstrates just how resilient our economy is,” he concluded.

This optimism reflects the business community’s readiness to serve as one of the key drivers of national development. Through stronger domestic investment, the development of future industries, and the empowerment of regional entrepreneurs, Kadin Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to realizing a strong people-oriented economy and enhancing Indonesia’s standing on the global stage.
