DPR Commission II Inspects Preparation for Regional Election in NTB

During the recess period of Assembly III 2017-2018, a number of Members of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (28/2) paid a working visit to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

Chairman of the Commission II of the DPR overseeing home affairs Zainudin Amali of Golkar Party Faction (FPG) said that during the recess period this time, the Commission is scheduled to visit three provinces namely East Kalimantan, Yogyakarta, and West Nusa Tenggara. According to him, the visit aims to monitor the works in the regions in connection with duties and functions of the DPR.

“We also intend to look at public services firsthand in NTB as there is an integrated public service and also the implementation of autonomy function in the province,” Zainudin said in a meeting with the NTB Provincial Government in capital Mataram.

Zainudin also explained that in addition to the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (pilkada) this year, for the first time ever, Legislative and Presidential Elections will be be held simultaneously in April 2019.

“We hope the implementation of the regional election complies with the existing rules and the readiness of the community. One concern is to do with the neutrality of ASN (State Civil Apparatus) and it is the task of the Regional Secretary and other leaders to ensure it,” Zainuddin added.

Responding to Zainudin’s statement, NTB Regional Secretary Rosiady Sayuti representing the Governor explained that four candidate pairs are running for governor. “Hopefully, members of Parliament are willing to make a field visit later on,” Rosiady concluded.

Meanwhile, Head of One Stop Service (PTSP) Lalu Gita Ariadi reported that NTB was in the yellow zone in 2016 but in 2017 the province became a pilot project and ranked third based on the assessment of the Ministry of the Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB). “The quality of human resources has continuously improved to anticipate changes in rules and the employees follow technical guidance (bimtek) from relevant ministries and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK),” Lalu added.

During the discussion forum, lawmakers Henry Yosodiningrat of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Faction (FPDIP) and Firmansyah Mardanoes of the United Development Party Faction (FPPP) delivered the dissemination of Ombudsman, while Azikin of the Great Indonesian Movement Party Faction (FGerindra) explained about health services and recruitment of civil servants from Category II (KII) and non-tenured employees.

Also present on the occasion were Mardani Ali Sera (Vice Chairman of Commission II of Prosperous Justice Party/PKS Faction), Endro Suswantoro Yaman (FPDIP), Dwi Ria Latifa (FPDIP), Tubagus Ace Hasan Syadzily (FPG), Assistant Deputy Secretary of Public Relations and Protocol of Cabinet Secretariat Alfurkon Setiawan, Head of Planning and Finance Bureau of Cabinet Secretariat Islachuddin, and representatives of other Commission II DPR work partners.

After meeting with the Provincial Government of NTB, Chairman of Commission II of DPR and entourage paid a visit to the Office of Investment and One Stop Service for Manpower, and the Regional Election Commissions (KPUD)/the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). (AS/EN/ES) (MUR/EP/YM/Naster).
