The opportunity to obtain the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship is open to every Indonesian citizen, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati has announced.

“It’s your turn! Let us contribute with the LPDP to welcome self-transformation and the progress of the country,” Sri Mulyani said in the 2022 LPDP Scholarship Opening Webinar, Friday (02/25).

The LPDP’s contribution in improving the quality of education for Indonesian people is realized by providing opportunities for world education through full scholarship programs for master’s and doctoral programs.

According to the Minister, equal distribution of scholarship opportunities for all Indonesian citizens is realized by classifying scholarship types into affirmative, targeted group, and regular scholarships. “The number of LPDP scholarship awardees has reached 29,872 people and the awardees come from all over Indonesia,” she added.

Since 2010, Sri Mulyani continued, the total endowment fund in the education sector managed by the Government has reached Rp99.1 trillion and it will continue to rise for in 2022 there will be additional funds from the State Budget. The fund includes research endowment of Rp8 trillion, university endowment of Rp7 trillion, and cultural endowment of Rp3 trillion.

“The diversity of endowments is a commitment that the quality of Indonesian human resources is determined not only from formal education which is learning activities in the classroom, but the aspects of research, social interaction, and culture are also very important,” the Minister remarked.

For the record, the Government has allocated 20 percent of the State Budget for education since 2007. This year, the total education budget is Rp542.8 trillion and the allocation depends on the size of the State Budget each year. (Ministry of Finance PR/UN) (GWH/MUR)
