Eid is Moment to Strengthen Nation’s Unity, President Jokowi Says

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has sent out Eid Greetings to Indonesian Moslems who celebrate it.

In a video with the background of mudik (annual exodus before Eid) situation at Senen training station in Central Jakarta, the President expressed hope that this year’s Eid Day can be an opportunity to once again strengthen the spirit of unity and brotherhood, both within the family and among citizens.

“I wish you a Happy Idulfitri 1 Syawal 1440 Hegira. Mohon maaf lahir dan batin. (Forgive me for my physical and emotional wrongdoings). Let us make this moment an opportunity for us to unite as a nation,” he said.

This year’s Eid Day is also expected to serve as a beginning to stand together as a nation and to build Indonesia to better in the future, he added.

“With a pure heart, let us make Indonesia a better, more advanced, and more prosperous nation,” the President added.

The Head of State also wished mudik travellers who are going back to their respective hometowns to celebrate Eid Day a safe and convenient trip.

“I wish all mudik travellers a safe trip. Hope you arrive safely in your destinations and I also wish you a wonderful time with your family and your loved ones,” he added. (BPMI/EN)
