Elementary Student Shares Story of Meeting President Jokowi
Many people do not want to miss a change to take a group photo when meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in person, while he went on cycling in Medan, North Sumatra province, on Sunday morning (02/12).
Upon his arrival at the Car-Free Day (HBKB) area, President Jokowi received enthusiastic greeting from the people of Medan who were gathered around the President to take pictures and shake hands with him.
One of them, an elderly, was riding a vintage bicycle and asked the President to take the pictures together.
“Mr. President, my bicycle is a vintage bicycle”, he said.
Meanwhile, Raska, an elementary school student cried because he ran to follow the President for about one kilometer but could not take a photo with him.
“So, when I took the photo, I asked Raska to join, but he was blocked and he cried because I was the only one who could take the photo,” said his older sister.
She went on to say that they had run to follow President Jokowi from Medan Train Station to Jalan Kol. Yos Sudarso.
They have a strong reason to follow the President. The older sister said that he and his younger sibling really idolize the figure of the President, whom they consider kind and friendly.
“Because I am his fan,” she added.
Finally, their efforts were not in vain. They finally were allowed to take a photo with the President in front of the hotel lobby.
“The President is kind, he’s modest, wants to take photos, humble,” Raska added. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT) (SF/RAS)
