The policy to extend or end large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in capital Jakarta depends on the epidemiological data, Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan has said.

“Regarding the large-scale social restrictions, the President has ordered that we must maintain self-discipline in implementing the restrictions,” the Governor said after accompanying President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo during the inspection to public facilities at Hotel Indonesia MRT Station, Jakarta, Tuesday (26/5).

According to Anies, the coronavirus is transmitted through physical interactions, including social gatherings, economic activities, cultural gatherings, and religious gatherings, adding that if the people maintain their self-discipline during the implementation of the large-scale social restrictions, the restrictions will end at 4 June.

“The extension or ending of the restrictions depends on the epidemiological data,” the Governor said, adding that scientists are currently gathering and monitoring all the data.

Anies further said that the extension or the ending of large-scale social restrictions is not determined by the Government or the scientists but by the commitment of the residents in implementing the restrictions.

“We will also disseminate specific protocols for Jakarta because every region has its own characteristics,” he said. (FID/DND/EN)
